A Heavily Patched Boro Length: Hand Spun Cotton

$135.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth century
67" x 12 3/4", 170 cm x 32.5 cm

This is a marvelous boro textile for its wonderful, old, hand spun cotton yarns, its lovely patina, and its profusion of mending patches, about 23 in all.  The length is hand stitched of two, separate pieces.

The threads used to weave this beautiful boro textile are rich in flavor, as the Japanese refer to home spun cloth--and when looking at old country textiles, it is the ito aji or thread taste that is one of the most important elements.

A fantastically good piece with a great variety of pattern and indigo, this boro futon cover panel offers a lot of visual pleasure.

Recommended.
