A Handsome and Subtle Boro Length: Muted Stripes

$45.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth century
43" x 12 1/2", 109 cm x 31.5 cm

This is a lovely, subtle and shibui length of hand loomed cotton cloth.

The length is hand stitched of two pieces of cotton that is woven with a very narrow stripe which alternates grey and blue.  These two pieces of cloth are layered with two layers of cloth, each of which is sashiko stitched in neat, widely spaced rows.

The cloth shows just the right amount of patina from wear to make it interesting, and the rustic hand of the cloth is soulful.

Really lovely and understated.
