A Hand Cut Wooden Pattern for a Glove: Meiji Era
$60.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
10 3/4" x 5 1/2", 27.5 cm x 14 cm
This charming, wooden object is pattern used for making gloves--presumable heavy work gloves used by firefighters or used by workers.
The pattern is charming in its easy-to-recognize presence and its date (Meiji era 1868-1912) is hand written on the piece.
There is a small, looped cord attached to the piece so as to store it when not in use, much like clothing patterns are stored by dressmakers and tailors today.
A delightful thing to own.
