This is a group of eight, short and narrow pieces cut from the collar area of a meisen silk kimono. Each piece shows a different design.
Meisen is a kind of machine aided kasuri cloth, the quality of silk being pedestrian as meisen kimono that were not expensive and were meant to be worn on a regular basis as "town wear."
These panels are from such kimono: there are ingrained creases set into each of the lengths along with a few surface stains.
