A Good Sized Length of Wide Sakiori Cotton: Rag Woven Panel in Blues
mid twentieth century
142" x 16 1/2", 360 cm x 42 cm
At almost 12 feet or 3.6 meters this is a generously-sized length of extra wide, hand woven, handsomely colored sakiori cloth.
The colors are in the blue, green and grey family with some whiteish details: all the yarns used to weave this length are hand made from re-purposed rag. The length is heavy in weight and very, very sturdy.
There is wear to this piece in the form of a slightly creased area near one of the two selvedges, evidence that this length was once stitched together with another piece.
This beautifully colored and even more beautifully woven length of sakiori cloth was more than likely woven in the mid twentieth century, maybe a bit later, and its condition is good and used.
A beautiful thing with so many possible applications for home or as artwork, this is a wonderful thing to behold.
