A Cotton Shibori Long Jacket: Repeated Diamond Pattern
early to mid twentieth century
shoulder to hem x sleeve tip to sleeve tip: 40 1/2" x 45", 103 cm x 114.5 cm
When acquired in Japan this garment was said to be a child's.
Looking at it it now seems more likely that it was some form of long jacket: the slits to the back/side (seen on photos here) indicate that it was not a kimono.
The jacket is hand stitched and the tied shibori are arranged in diamonds of nine dots each. The condition is good and used and this garment is ready to wear.
Note the dimensions up top are arranged as "shoulder to hem by sleeve tip to sleeve tip."
As this was hand made it is not "sized" per se.
A very attractive jacket in good, used condition.
