A Generous Length of Indigo Dyed Suji Shibori: Pleated

$110.00 USD

mid twentieth century
82" x 13 3/4", 208 cm x 35 cm

This is a generous length of hand made, indigo dyed cotton shibori that is seemingly unused.

This piece, undoubtedly from Narumi/Arimatsu, seems to be a type that was pleated with the aid of a machine, the technique being called fukuzo suji shibori.

The semi-broken vertically dyed lines are as shown due to the pleated fabric having been bound by string before being vat dyed.

Although not bearing any creases near the selvedge that indicate that this would have been taken from a garment so we can assume it was never used, there are exceeding faint, tiny stains, maybe three of them, which, if you purchase this piece, you might never see.

It is a beauty.
