A Full Kimono of Heavyweight Kasuri Cotton: Weft Based Pattern

This good sized kimono is machine stitched from a curiously heavy woven or thick and slubby cotton cloth that is dyed in the kasuri method.

The color tone of the indigo is a dull medium blue and the images that are woven into the cloth are weft based. And the images are magical: they depict a treasure cluster called takarazukushi
that include many auspicious symbols related to Buddhism in particular, including the flaming pearl, cloves, pilgrim's hats, scrolls of knowledge, money purses, etc.

The images are blurred and sometimes indistinct and this adds to the charm.

As mentioned, unlike most kimono offered here this one is not hand stitched, it is machine stitched.

This, however, does not negatively affect the drapiness or flow of the garment which is made of heavy cloth and is of fairly generous size.

Beautifully wearable and with a very attractive kasuri dyed cloth, this is a kimono with a lot of life still in it.
