A Full Bolt of Indigo Dyed Taiten Shibori: Puckered Cotton

$245.00 USD

mid twentieth century
approximately 10 yards x 14", approximately 9.1 m x 35.5 cm

Taiten shibori is a type of shibori where the length of cloth is compressed along a series of stiff warp yarns before it is dyed.

The result of this process is as you see here: a series of small, regularly spaced blips of indigo that dot the entire length of this lightweight cotton full bolt, which was destined to be stitched into a yukata or an unlined, casual kimono.

This is a lot of cloth to use in a fashion or interiors project--and please know that the first 12" or 30 cm or so is faintly faded due to light exposure and to being stored for decades

This is a very nice bolt of taiten shibori cloth with so much potential to feed creativity.
