A Full Bolt of Indigo Dyed Shibori: Umbrella Pattern
mid twentieth century
9+ yards x 13", 8.2+ meters x 33 cm
This seems to be a full bolt of hand dyed shibori; the indigo appears to be synthetic as much of it was during the time this bolt was dyed.
The pattern is really wonderful: it is one that shows large-scale umbrellas which are shown staggered one in front of the other as they appear along the length of the bolt. If this would have been made into a yukata, or a summer, unlined kimono as was intended, the repeat pattern would look wonderfully rich and vibrant.
As this is unused, the condition is good.
A wonderful length of cotton and a fabulous resource for a designer or artist.
Recommended.
