A Full Bolt of Indigo Cotton Miura Shibori: Wonderful Texture
mid twentieth century
376" x 10 1/2", 9.55 m x 26.5 cm
This is a full bolt of indigo dyed cotton miura shibori.
It is long enough to hand stitch an entire kimono or yukata, and this bolt was intended for exactly this use.
It is always wonderful to find, and to offer for sale, a entire bolt of hand dyed, vintage shibori, and this is a particularly good looking roll of cloth. Of course the shibori is completely hand-done; the cotton is power loomed, but is nice and gauzy in the hand. It is a lightweight cotton.
Of course, because the cotton has been dyed using countless tied areas, the selvedge edges are not at all even along the length of the bolt.
Because this is a vintage length of shibori, the first 18", 45 cm of the length is slightly faded from light exposure, however the entirety of the remaining cloth is as richly colored as it was the day it was made.
A wonderful thing to own, and an absolutely beautiful length of shibori.
