A Full Bolt of Hand Woven Plaid Cotton: Sealed Tanmono

$50.00 USD

mid twentieth century
approximately 12 yards x 14", 11.37 m x 35.5 cm

This is a full bold of heavy, hand woven cotton of a type that was produced quite widely in Japan in the early-to-mid twentieth century.

The bolt is still stitched closed and there is a maker's stamp still barely visible on one end of the bolt.

As this shows a large, plaid in searing colors it was no doubt intended for household purposes, to make a futon cover, for example, rather than for use as a garment.

A good amount of hand woven cloth from old Japan that would be wonderful in any craft or fashion project.
