A Fragment of Thickly Woven Kasuri Cotton: Textured Pattern
$30.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
24 1/2" x 13", 62 cm x 33 cm
This is a fragment of indigo dyed, hand woven cotton that seems to be made of hand spun yarns: the cloth itself it tightly woven and thick in weight.
It is a fairly small piece that may have once been the sleeve of a garment; its ingrained creases suggest that it was once fashioned into some kind of form.
Have a look at the sophisticated and subtle design and coloration of this piece of cloth--it is an absolutely beautiful piece of old kasuri weaving both in concept and execution.
Wonderful.
