This short length of indigo dyed cotton shibori shows a fragment taken from a large-scale repeat pattern of a network of elongated octagons, a fraction of which we see here.
The fragment of cloth has a bold design and the two tones of mottled blue soften the geometry of the design.
It is a lovely piece of shibori, probably dating to the 1930s or so.
