A Fragment from a Larger Tsutsugaki Cloth: Gradient Leaves
$45.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
18" x 13 1/2", 45.75 cm x 34.25 cm
This utterly charming fragment of hand spun, hand dyed tsutsugaki cloth shows one-and-a-half gradient-colored maple leaves which seem to be in the transition from summer to bright, autumn color tones. A sprig of blue leaves floats above these two.
The cloth is nicely worn which shows off both the hand spun yarns and the warm, botanical indigo dye used to color the background.
Delightful.
