A Four Panel Brightly Colored Kasuri Cloth: Mid 20th Century

$75.00 USD

mid twentieth century
65" x 47 1/2", 165 cm x 120.75 cm

This four-panel cotton textile is the backing of futon cover and it is completely hand stitched.

As it quite obvious, it is dyed with very saturated, synthetic dyes and it is patterned in a kind of kasuri or ikat process that seems akin to that of meisen silk, which was popular during the first half of the twentieth century.

The pattern is a repeat of the diamond flower motif augmented by sprigs of arabesques which are superimposed over graded, weft-based stripes.

The futon cover is in used, but fairly good condition, with some ingrained creasing and a few small stains.
