A Carved Board for Dyeing Kasuri Yarns: Pressure Resist

$195.00 USD

This intriguing, hand carved wooden panel has a fascinating purpose: it is used to resist kasuri yarns before they are dyed.

Often kasuri yarns are resisted by judiciously and strategically tying or wrapping yarns with thread or string, however the yarns can also be placed between two mirror image boards and when pressure is exerted on these compressed yarns, the resist dyeing process is complete.

There are other ways to resist kasuri yarns but this one has left behind wonderful artifacts that are compellingly interesting objects in their own right--and quite an unusual object to own, to display or to study.

These boards are not easy to find and this one is happily presented today.
