A Candy Colored Sakiori Obi: Cotton Rag Weave
$95.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
118" x 5", 300 cm x 12/5 cm
This is a lovely, brightly colored sakiori obi, a traditional kimono sash that has been woven with shredded cloth.
The warp yarns of this thickly woven obi alternate red and orange, producing a striped effect and adding a haze of red and orange over the weft yarns. The weft yarns--made of rag--also alternate in color to produce a regular pattern up the obi. The weft yarns are turquoise, green/yellow and a mottled grey.
The obi is in very good condition overall with no discernible stains, frays or holes.
A really lovely, cheery sakiori obi.
