A Boro Kimono: Complex Patched and Pieced Repurposed Cottons

This patched and piece constructed kimono was hand stitched with re-purposed cottons that were put together in a certain arrangement, either by necessity or for an aesthetic viewpoint, or both.

It is shown inside-out so as to see the construction and the beautiful variety of cotton textiles that are reused to make this garment, included cotton flannel cloth for its sleeves.

This is a woman's kimono and it was well-used, and it shows signs of wear from its lifetime of service. 

Note the holes to the proper, right front lower collar area, illustrated here in the detail photos.

The various hues of indigo, black, grey-blue and soft brick tones used on this coat find a kind of harmony of inclusion: since we can appreciate this from its visual appeal, this one rates high. And kudos to the maker, anonymous though she may be.
