A Beautifully Subtle Sakiori Obi: Ragweave

$125.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
120" x 10 1/4", 302 cm x 26 cm

This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns are very pale, almost-white grey cotton; the weft yarns are brick, purple, and a mottled green/white which are measured out in relatively even color bars along the length.

The overall look of this obi is wonderfully subtle both in terms of its coloration and its texture.

This lovely obi is in very good condition, with no visible stains or holes.

A beautiful, elegant folk textile.

Recommended.
