A Beautifully Stitched and Mended Boro Futon Cover: Rich Design

This is a beautiful boro futon cover that shows a wonderful variety of old cottons which are hand stitched together; the result is a marvelous collage of variegated cottons, the arrangement of which is extremely pleasing from the visual standpoint.

This futon cover is hand stitched from layers, and if you look carefully at  the accompanying detail photos you will see that some of the layers on the reverse of the futon cover are sloughing off--for some reason the surface is pulling away from itself and the result is ragged, loose and unfinished.

But it is the other side which deserves more attention for is wonderful, bright assemblage of old cottons; the two white cotton patches which are studded with black cotton stitches are visual foils to the otherwise somber blues and they add a great deal to the overall appeal of this wonderful, old futon cover.
