Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a very handsome zokin which is sewn from several pieces of recycled cotton cloth.
The piecing of the cloth is super handsome and beautifully subtle, and these details make this zokin a wonderful object from old Japan. The sashiko stitching is beautifully executed.
Just wonderful.
