A Beautifully Patched Plaid Boro Length: Hand Spun Cottons
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
68 1/2" x 13 1/4", 174 cm x 33.5 cm
This is a very long piece of hand woven, indigo dyed cotton which was taken from a futon cover. The warm rich tones of the indigo color are hard to convey in photographs as is the subtle texture given by the hand spun cotton yarns.
The length is studded with beautiful patches--about 11 in all--of many different sizes and fabrics which add a beautiful contrast to the plaid cotton base.
A beautiful boro length with a very good hand woven base cloth which is created from home spun cotton.
