A Beautifully Faded Striped Boro Length: Miura Shibori Patch

$55.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
64 1/2" x 13", 164 cm x 33 cm

What a great-looking old, traditional, Japanese textile. This is a panel taken from a futon cover, a lovely, very wide woven stripe which has faded beautifully over time.  You can see that through wear this panel has acquired a bit of an "elbow" as it bends slightly in the center.

This length of indigo dyed cotton is hand stitched from 2 separate pieces of cloth and bears four hand applied patches, one of which is of miura shibori.

The entire length is beautifully faded and the hand woven cotton is hand spun.

Really subtle, really simple, just gorgeous, and a real taste of old Japan.
