A Beautiful Daifukucho: Red and Black Script
late nineteenth century
13 1/4" x 4 3/4" x 1 1/2", 35 cm x 12 cm x 3.75 cm
This is an exceptionally good, old daifukucho, a hand bound, hand written book which could have originally been used for inventories, for accounting, for ledgers or as a record of loans.
This one is thick with many pages, each one filled with hand writing done in sumi or charcoal-based ink as well as in red ink. Its two abraded covers show hand written kanji or Chinese characters.
A fantastic example of a traditional daifukucho, with its original, intact cording.
