This lovely book is said to contain a love story dating from the early 19th century. As can be seen on the accompanying photographs, there are two, wonderful, colored, woodblock prints which illustrate scenes from the tale. There are five other black-and-white illustrations, one of which is shown here.

The book is largely composed of woodblock prints of writing, which tell the story--these pages in themselves are interesting for their graphic appeal and in knowing that whomever owned this book was probably very entertained by the tale told between the covers.
