A 19th Century Illustrated Book: Published Advice from the Empress
ca. mid to late nineteenth century
when closed: 9" x 6" x 1/2", 22.75 cm x 15.25 cm x 1.5 cm
44 pages, 3 double-page illustrations
This hand bound, 19th century book is said to be "advice from the empress," however looking at the three, double-page--and very dramatic--illustrations which are to be found in this book, one wonders what the empress may be talking about.
Still, this is a lovely, old thing in quite good condition for its age. Of course there is wear, some faint staining and a few insect holes, but this is to be expected.
The woodblock printed illustrations are dynamic and beautiful, and if you look closely at one of them, you will see a woman, kneeling, in what appears to be boro or ragged clothing.
Lovely.
