An Antique Indian Drawing: Yantra in Red Ink

$125.00 USD

mid twentieth century
6 1/4" x 7 1/2", 16 cm x 19 cm

Drawn in red ink on old paper which has been laid on a firmer, thin paper substrate, this is a rectilinear yantra, filled with wonderful Sanskrit writing. It is a beautiful chaos of divine rendering, most likely drawn by a pandit to aid a worshipper in prayer.

The markings in red ink are casual yet determined, clearly speaking on a seeker's relationship to what he or she is seeking, whether it be a union with a god or goddess or an appeal to the planets for help and guidance.

Gorgeous.
