A Rustic Obi Woven from Thick Cotton Yarns: Simple Palette

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
120" x 6 1/4", 305 cm x 16 cm

This rustic obi gives the impression that it is sakiori or ragweave, but in actual fact is seems to be woven from a white warp with what appears to be weft material that is thick cotton yarns.

The white cotton warp gives the overall color scheme an easy color tone. The weft is fed in blocks of brick, mustard and ivory colors, creating a blocky striped pattern up the length of the obi. The overall visual result is a fairly uniform, striped design rendered in handsome colors.

The condition is good and used and there seems to be very little damage or wear to this piece. Please note the makers mark to the end of the obi, an enchanting detail.
