A Length of Large Scale Brown and Blue Plaid: Simplicity
$70.00 USD
early twentieth century
63" x 13 1/4", 160 cm x 33.5 cm
This simply designed length of cotton was taken from a futon cover. It shows a straightforward pattern of brown and deep blue squares that form a boldly designed grid.
The cotton is in good, used condition and this type of blocky plaid is one of countless iterations of checks and plaids that were integral to the textile culture of Japan. There is a very, very slight bow to the center of the piece, but one that is not in any way distracting or that disfigures the length.
A simple beauty.
