A Length of Katazome Dyed Cotton: Intense Geometric Repeat

This is a length of indigo dyed katazome cotton that has been stencil resisted on both its sides, the reason for this is to create a crisp, dyed pattern. An advantage to this is that both sides of the cloth look the same, making it "reversible."

There is a break in the pattern shown here so there is evidence of the size of the stencil used in dyeing. The pattern is that of diamonds and lines which is reminiscent of the traditional "crossed cords" motif that is often seen in sashiko stitching.

There is a small snag or hole to this length which is in otherwise good, used condition.

The length shows a handsome pattern and the flawed dyeing holds charm.
