This length of indigo dyed cotton katazome cloth is luxurious for its rich pattern and its lush color--and it is hand stitched from three pieces of the same cloth.
The length shows beautifully rendered, stylized chrysanthemums amid a field of arabesques: the image is tinted with grey and orange tones which add to the visual richness.
The dyes themselves have faded over time and have softened, the fading effect somehow enhances the type of image imprinted on the cloth.
This hand stitched collage is beautiful--and the cotton is certainly hand woven.
