This wonderful object is an unused bolt of kasuri or ikat woven cotton; there is enough on this bolt to fashion one kimono of the type being worn by the woman who is shown on the bolt's label.
It is really fun to find an old bolt of cloth where its original labels are still intact, so one has to think either to conserve this as an object to admire or to dig in and make something wonderful from the cotton cloth. Either choice will yield enjoyable results.
