An Old Shibori Cotton Bag: Hand Spun Cotton
early twentieth century
13" x 6 1/2", 33 cm x 16.5 cm
This is a small pouch made of old, rustic indigo shibori that has been dyed onto beautifully textured hand spun, hand woven cotton.
The bag is made of three pieces of the same shibori cloth that have been hand stitched together. Therefore if you are inclined to open this bag you will have a nice fragment of old shibori that can be applied to many uses.
The silk or rayon tie that was used to cinch the bag closed is all but gone. However the quality of the shibori shown on this bag, as well as the cotton, is wonderful.
A beautiful thing and something wonderful for those interested in old shibori.
