This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn. Its color tone is unusual, subtle and interesting.
The warp yarns are of fine, mustardy-taupe colored cotton and the weft yarns striated shredded silk in colors of orange and mustard yellow which are woven with wide stripes of solid orange color in between fields of variegated tones.
This wide, sturdy obi is in good, used condition. As mentioned above its color is unusual and its subtle design is sophisticated.
A beautiful, elegant folk textile.
