A Vintage Hand Painted Koinobori: Original Box

$75.00 USD

mid twentieth century
box size: 16" x 15 1/2" x 1", 40.5 cm x 39.25 cm x 2.5 cm

This is an interesting, intact, old koinobori, the well-know carp streamer that is flown outside Japanese homes during Childrens Day which is celebrated on 5/5 or May the fifth of each year.

For the sake of keeping the original qualities of the koinobori intact as much as possible, it was not unfolded when it was photographed outside the box, but it could easily be 1 1/2 yards or 1/5 meters long or more when fully extended.

The carp banner is crafted from machine stitched cotton with hand painted details that can easily be seen on the accompanying photographs.

This is a really fun item from old Japan and even more so because it comes to you in the same manner it would have been purchased when it was just made: in its original box.

Really delightful and recommended.
