A Subtly Colored Sakiori Obi: Rag Weave

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
108" x 5", 274.5 cm x 12.75 cm

This is a lovely and beautifully colored sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns are variegated in color, which lend a subtle hue to the overall piece.  The weft yarns are fairly evenly spaced segments of tones of a dull rose color, a mottled deep green, twinned cream and blue and maroon.

This lovely obi is in good, used condition with no obvious stains, tears or damage.  It is finished on both its short ends.

A handsomely colored folk textile in an unusual color palette.
