A Small Drawstring Pouch: Large Bamboo Tag

This is a small, indigo dyed cotton drawstring pouch that is fashioned from very nice hand woven kasuri cotton. The curious feature of the bag is the large bamboo tag attached to it; on both sides of the tag kanji or Chinese characters are written.
It is unclear what was the original purpose of this bag but it has good age and is still quite usable. Its cloth is of very nice quality and the bag is of interesting construction.
This is a curious object from long ago.
