A Short Faded and Stitched Boro Length: Soft Blues

$30.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
32" x 13 1/2", 81 cm x 34 cm

This length of graphically faded, indigo dyed cotton has a simple and direct aesthetic appeal.  By turning it over and seeing the reverse side, it appears that this cloth was the lining for a kimono or a yogi (sleeping kimono).

The side we are featuring here, however, has some visual charm.  There are three patches, one on the top, left corner, and two patches in the right-hand center of the piece.  Note the black thread which is used to affix the patches to the base and see the charming mending stitches used to sew these patches to the faded cloth.

A really lovely boro cloth, with a great deal of authentic charm from old Japan.
