This beautiful object is a hand-carved wood block which would have been one of several used in creating a colorful wood block print: each of its two sides is carved.
The design on the front of the block is stark and abstract; there are some faint, blue crayon markings over the white design.
The reverse side shows blotches of black ink over a circular form and a rectangular form: the combination of the white front and the smudged, black back is just beautiful.
An enigmatic object that piques the curiosity with its visual power.
