A Short or Partial Rag Woven Sakiori Obi: Beautiful Red Tones
$75.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
82" x 6 3/4", 208.5 cm x 17 cm
Shown here is a sakiori obi, which is a traditional kimono sash that has been woven from a cotton warp and a weft of shredded, recycled cottons.
The rag weft yarn is arranged in beautifully colored, irregularly spaced bars of lovely tones of red, pink, vermilion, orange and purple.
The obi is of a slightly shorter length than most and it seems it may have been cut or intentionally woven shorter than others.
Please note the small hole illustrated in the accompanying detail photographs.
A particularly nicely colored example of a sakiori obi.
