The combination of plum, bamboo and pine called \u003cem\u003eshochikubai\u003c\/em\u003e is a classic, auspicious group that carries great meaning: it\u003ci\u003e \u003c\/i\u003e\u003cspan\u003eis the design triad of bamboo, pine and plum blossoms, which conveys good wishes.  Plum shows courage as its blossoms, the first of the year, burst forth from under ice; the bamboo is resilience since it bends but does not break; the pine is a symbol of long life and also of a faithful marriage as its needles fall in pairs.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe grey areas of silk are dyed with a pattern in a size called \u003cem\u003echuugata \u003c\/em\u003eand it shows a repeat design of clustered \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Japanese_sword_mountings\"\u003e\u003cem\u003etsuba\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e or sword hilts.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is small tear to the shoulder of the proper, left hand top.
