A Pale Colored Half Width Sakiori Obi: Mottled Color
$80.00 USD
mid twentieth century
83" x 5", 211 cm x 12.75 cm
This is a beautifully hand woven sakiori obi, which is a traditional kimono sash using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.
Because the obi is narrow it is referred to as han haba or "half-a-loom-width."
The obi is woven from a cream colored cotton warp with the cotton rag weft yarns being of mottled light colors, the design is based on narrow maroon colored bars that are evenly spaced up the length of the obi.
This rustic obi is in good, used condition and it is an especially handsome folk textile in a beautiful color palette--this obi a rare treat.
Very recommended.
