A Padded Cotton Vest: Stripes and Printed Details
$65.00 USD
mid twentieth century
29 1/2" x 18", 75 cm x 46 cm
This is a padded vest which is entirely hand stitched of striped, woven cotton cloth. It seems to have been fashioned of recycled cotton, most likely taken from a jacket or kimono.
The reinforcements see at either side of the garment, at the bottom of the armholes, are printed cotton. The collar is of black, plain cotton.
Vests such as this are meant to be worn open in front, much as this piece is shown here. The width dimension of 18"/46 cm is measured from side-to-side at the vest's widest point.
A lovely, still very wearable garment from old Japan.
