A Multi-Colored Sakiori Obi: Black Base Tone

This is a sakiori obi or a kimono sash that is hand woven from shredded cotton yarn. The warp is cotton and the weft is made of torn cotton pieces.

This obi shows a wonderful, multi-color weft that is made rich by the intermittent, brightly colored and varied weft yarns set against black. The cotton warp yarns are also black which add richness to the overall tone.

The obi is in good, used condition and is unusual in its fanciful, vibrant palette.
