A Mottled Green Sakiori Obi: Rag Weave

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
113" x 6 3/4", 287 cm x 17 cm

This is a lovely sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cotton cloth as its weft yarn.

Its coloration is an uneven, streaky rich green color that is interrupted by bars of mottled pinkish and lime green tones.

The warp yarns are of black dyed cotton which give depth of color and tone to the obi.
This kimono sash is in good, used condition--it is sturdy and the colors are handsome.

A beautiful, richly toned folk textile in a fairly unusual color palette.

A good example of a sakiori obi.
