A Long Cotton Boro: Wonderful Stitching and Mending
$80.00 USD
ca. early to mid twentieth century
76" x 13" 193 cm x 33 cm
What a very good looking old boro length of indigo dyed cottons.
It appears the the base cloth, and indigo dyed cotton, is woven from a warp which is left over kasuri threads: note the intermittent white striation to the warp yarns.
On top of this base there are four-and-a-half hand stitched patches, the top two being really charming in the way that they are stitched: please have a look at the accompanying photographs for a closer look at the charming stitching.
This is a long and lovely length of mended boro cloth with a great deal of personality.
