A Length of Yellow Colored Kaya: Hemp Mosquito Netting
early to mid twentieth century
70"x 13", 178 cm x 33 cm
This is a length of loosely woven hemp cloth that was taken from a kaya or a tent of mosquito netting; kaya was ubiquitous in old Japan.
This one is of an unusual yellow color--kaya is usually undyed, blue or green, with few examples dyed yellow.
It is a wonderful length in good, used condition.
