A Length of Stitched Shibori: Undulating Pattern

$40.00 USD

mid twentieth century
57" x 14", 145 cm x 35.5 cm

This is a length of lightweight, commercially loomed cotton that has been dyed in the stitched shibori technique. The pattern is one of undulating, parallel lines which produces a kind of wave effect.

The indigo dye is dark and rich and the stitched shibori is clear and white. As the length was taken from a yukata or an unlined summer kimono, there are ingrained creases from its former life as a casual garment.

Lovely.
