A Length of Shibori: Mist, Spiderwebs and a Patch
mid twentieth century
53" x 12 3/4", 134.5 cm x 32.5 cm
This is a length of attractive, hand dyed, very lightweight cotton: it has been dyed in the shibori method. With the free-form streaks of indigo we can see some spiderweb designs or kumo as they are referred to in Japan.
The cloth is used and there are some splits to the cotton as can be seen in the accompanying detail photos, and there is also a patch to the back of the piece.
A lovely, unusual length of shibori dyed cotton.
